Biography

Prior to working at Saddleback College, Michael began their career in higher education at the University of San Francisco's Student Housing department, where they were a Resident Advisor to Sophomore students for three years. After earning their bachelor’s degree in psychology, Michael went on to work as a Substance Abuse Counselor aiding patients in their recovery efforts through needle exchange programs, methadone maintenance therapy, detox, and long-term sober living facilities. Most recently, Michael worked as an Academic Integrity & Student Conduct Officer at the University of California, Irvine, meeting with students who were alleged to have violated University policies. Michael recently graduated from the University of California, Fullerton’s Master’s of Science in Higher Education in May 2023. During this graduate work, Michael worked closely with Compton’s College LGBTQIA+ work group to facilitate queer-themed events and programs in the hopes of establishing a resource center.
