Saddleback College is committed to fostering a safe and supportive learning and work environment. To uphold this commitment, we encourage all students, staff, and faculty to report concerning behavior, and/or suspicious activity promptly so that we can respond to distressed students or community members with support services and resources.

Title IX is a federal law that protects you from sexual harassment, including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to report sexual and gender-based harassment.  

When you report sexual harassment to the college, we will quickly and confidentially support and guide you to resources.

Incidents involving student vs. student, will be assigned to Student Rights and Grievances Manager to receive complaint, assess, and investigate (if necessary). Incidents involving student vs. employee, will be assigned to SOCCCD Human Resources (HR); however, Student Rights and Grievances Manager will provide student with supportive measures during complaint investigation.

Reference Material

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to report behavior that may violate the Student Code of Conduct. Faculty may use this to report academic dishonesty or any behavior that inhibits a faculty member’s ability to conduct class or limits other students’ ability to benefit from instruction or the learning activities of other students.

NOTE: Formal Academic Dishonesty for Plagiarism results in a formal letter being sent to the student and added to the student’s record.

Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to use this form to report noticeable distress before they lead to deeper issues, or behavior that may be impacting a student’s academic success.

CARE Reports may also be submitted by students who are in distress due to housing and/or food insecurity.

Students with disabilities who want to file a complaint regarding access to or quality of their academic accommodation under Section 504 and/or the American Disabilities Act (ADA) may go through the informal process with the DSPS counselor, if no agreement is reached with the informal process, students may contact the campus 504 Officer.

Student Rights and Grievances Manager can help students navigate SOCCCD district policy on Unlawful Harassment and Discrimination Prevention and Complaints (Administrative Regulation 3430) and provide supportive measures during complaint investigation and thereafter.

Protected Classes

"The District shall provide access to its services, classes, and programs without regard to national origin, immigration status, religion, age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, ethnicity, color, medical condition, military and veteran status, genetic information, ancestry, sexual orientation, marital status, physical or mental disability, pregnancy, or because they are perceived to have one or more of the foregoing characteristics, or based on association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. All courses, including noncredit classes, shall be conducted without regard to the gender of the student enrolled in the classes. As defined in the Penal Code, "gender" means sex, and includes a person’s gender identity and gender expression. "Gender expression" means a person's gender related appearance and behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person’s assigned sex at birth."
