Math Placement Levels at Saddleback College
After completing the Guided Self Placement questionnaire (current assessment process), you will receive a math course placement for Level 1, 2, 3 or 4:
- Level 1: STAT C1000, Math 103, Math 14, Math 8, Math 124
- Support packages: STAT C1000+Math 210S, Math 124+224S
- NOTE: Support packages offer 2 units of additional instructional time
- Equivalent preparation: High School Algebra 1; college-level Intermediate Algebra
- Support packages: STAT C1000+Math 210S, Math 124+224S
- Level 2: Math 11
- Equivalent preparation: High School Integrated Math 3; College Algebra
- Level 3: Math 2 or Math 3A+203
- Equivalent preparation: High School Algebra 2/Trig, Math III; college-level Trigonometry
- Level 4: Math 3A
- Prerequisite: High School PreCalculus, Math Analysis, Integrated Math 4, Math III Enhanced; college-level PreCalculus
Students with AP Scores and/or college transcripts can clear for Level 5 or 6 below:
- Level 5: Math 3B
- Prerequisite: Score of 4 on AP Calculus AB Exam; College Calculus 1
- Level 6: Math 3C, Math 24, Math 26
- Prerequisite: Score of 3 on AP Calculus BC Exam; College Calculus 2
After receiving Initial Math Placement, students can clear higher math course prerequisites if they have completed math at another college/university or earned a passing score on the Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus AB or BC exams.
