In-Person HiSET® Testing at Saddleback College Option
In-Person computer-based HiSET® Testing is OPEN at Saddleback College for enrolled HSE students and the community. Testing is available in English and Spanish once a month.
NOTE: Appointments for testing are required.

$17 PER Test Subject (5 Test Subjects Total) + $14 Test Center Fee (appointment fee collected every time you schedule an In-person test) = $31 PER Subject Test
- First-time testers pay a one-time $20.00 California CSS State Fee (only when taking first test).
- Subject Tests can be taken one at a time, in no particular order.
The Total Cost of the HiSET® Exam (including all 5 Subject Tests and state & test center fees) = $175 Total
Subject Test Information:
- Social Studies - 70 minutes on exam, 60 multiple choice questions
- Science - 80 minutes on exam, 60 multiple choice questions
- Math - 90 minutes on exam, 55 multiple choice questions
- Reading - English test: 65 minutes, 50 multiple choice questions // Spanish test: 80 minutes, 50 questions
- Writing - 120 minutes on exam, 1 essay question and 60 multiple choice questions
- Visit www.hiset.org to create your HiSET® account.
- Schedule your HiSET® testing appointment on www.hiset.org. Be ready to pay for your test with a debit/credit card.
On the day of the test, bring one of the following Photo IDs:
- CA driver's license or ID card from the DMV
- Military ID card
- Passport with CA residency
- Mexican Consulate card
- Indian Tribal card
What to do when you arrive:
- Arrive at Saddleback College at least 15 minutes BEFORE testing appointment. Enter college on Medical Center Drive entrance (click here for campus map) and proceed to Parking Lot 9.
- Buy parking pass - $5.00 day passes are available in kiosks.
- Go into the Business & General Studies (BGS) building, Room 232 to check-in for testing appointment.
You are eligible to take the HiSET® In-person at Saddleback College if you are:
- A Saddleback College student currently enrolled in classes.
- At least 18 years old, or are within 60 days of your 18th birthday.
- 17 years old, and have been absent at least 60 consecutive school days, and provide a letter of request from either the military, a post-secondary educational institution or a prospective employer (subject to approval).

Preparation for HiSET® Exam
High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation classes are designed to ensure that students pass all sections of the HiSET®, GED, or TASC™ test. Saddleback College, in partnership with Saddleback Valley Unified School District (SVUSD), offers HSE preparation classes at Saddleback Adult Education MV, on the Silverado High School (SHS) campus and online. Classes are offered in Math, Science, Social Studies and Language Arts, and are available in both English and Spanish. HSE exam preparation includes an initial assessment test to see what your previous knowledge is in each subject area, and several practice tests throughout your time in the HSE program to determine your level of readiness for the official state exam.
