Freshman Advantage gives first-time college students the opportunity to receive an early registration date at Saddleback College by completing the steps below.
Fall 2025 Semester
Mandatory Steps
- Apply - Submit your Fall 2025 application online. The Fall 2025 Freshman Advantage application is open from October 1, 2024 - January 31, 2025. The general Fall 2025 application opens February 1st. First-time college students are invited to apply during the early application period but can also apply for Fall 2025 after February 1st.
- High school seniors enrolled in a Saddleback College course during the Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 semester do not need to apply for Fall 2025. Your account is active.
- Complete the Matriculation Process beginning February 1, 2025 - This process consists of three steps:
- Step 1: New Student Orientation
- Step 2: Initial Math and English Guided Self Placement (GSP)
- Step 3: Student Advisement including a First Semester Plan

- Check your Matriculation Status - Be sure to have completed all steps of the Matriculation Process in MySite with a completion date of 5/6/25 or earlier.
- Register - All first-time college students will be assigned a Fall 2025 Freshman Advantage Early Registration Date. Freshman Advantage Early Registration continues for the following semester, Spring 2026. View your registration appointment in your MySite student portal.
Recommended Next Steps
- Apply for Financial Aid - Complete the free FAFSA or California Dream Act application online.
- Request Higher Placement from Pending AP Scores - If you plan to take the AP English and/or AP Calculus AB or BC exams, check MySite in April 2025 for instructions on how to request a temporary clearance for higher placement.
- Speak with a Counselor - Counseling Open Labs for Freshman Advantage students will be offered as of late April. Academic counselors will be available to help students plan out their first semester of classes and create an academic plan.
