Biography

Hi and welcome to my bio page! I joined the Saddleback Child Development and Education department in 2014 and am happy to be with you. My experience teaching adults started as a part-time faculty member in the Child and Adolescent Studies Department and the Freshman Advantage First Year Program at CSU Fullerton from 2006-2014 my alma mater (Go Titans!) and I have also worked as a part-time faculty member in the Child Development and Education Studies Department at Fullerton College since 2007 teaching a range of courses including such as Child, Family and Community, Child Growth and Development, and most recently an Anti-Bias/Diversity Seminar. The Children's Center at CSU Fullerton is where I spent most of my teaching career with children from 1992-2014, a majority of that time as a Master Teacher, training and working along side Child and Adolescent Studies students and interns in the field of Early Childhood Education. During my graduate Counseling program, I also worked with both child and adult victims of domestic violence, focusing my work and research on child-centered play therapy with children who have been exposed to violence, along with parenting education and support. Finally, my doctoral research focused on Anti-Bias Education with teachers of 4 and 5 year old children in varied programs/schools. All that to say that I have had many great experiences and I am excited to share them with you through the Child Development and Education department here at Saddleback in the courses that I teach!

On a more personal note, I enjoy spending time with my husband David, and son Cesar as well as with our dogs, Duke and Lily, our rabbit, Bun, and our chickens too! I spend my free time taking in movies, hiking, and volunteering with various projects. I am excited to get to know you and I welcome any questions you may have so please let me know if there is any way that I can support you as you work through our program!
