Terence Nelson- VETS Director:
Terence Nelson is Saddleback College's Dean of the Transfer, Career, and Special Programs Division which encompasses eleven student services programs and instructional departments and several grant funded student support initiatives. The TC&SP Division includes many student outreach and support services vital to student success. He is also the lead for the Center for Career and Life Development (CCLD), Re-Entry Center, and the Veterans Education and Transition Services (VETS) Program at Saddleback College which opened its doors in August 2009. Before his current role, Terence held the position of Assistant Dean of Counseling Services and Special Programs at the college. Prior to coming into administration he worked as a general, ESL, transfer, and athletic counselor, a learning center coordinator, the Teacher Preparation Pipeline counselor, a grant writer, and track coach. Terence currently serves as the president of the Region 8 Veterans Program Directors Consortium covering 20 colleges from Mission Viejo to Glendora. He also serves on the Southern California Army Advisory Council and Orange County Legislative Task Force. As a California community college graduate, he has first hand experience as to the opportunities our state's public higher education system offers.
Kolin Williams - Veterans / Generalist Counselor:
Kolin Williams served in the U.S. Army as a M1A1 Main Battle Tank Crewmember from 1995-1999. After an honora ble discharge, he began his transition to the civilian world. He began using his GI Bill at the local Community College and, although he made many mistakes, he also learned how to be successful. In 2005, he graduated California State University, Sacramento with a B.A. in Humanities, and in 2008, he graduated with an M.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. In 2008 Kolin was as hired as a counselor by the Disabled Student Programs and Services office at American River College. During his time as a Counselor at ARC, he worked in Special Services, General Counseling, and CalWORKS. He was also the Advisor for the ARC Association of Student Veterans which he created in 2008. He has presented to the Academic Senate, Board of Governors, and facilitated Faculty training on issues specific to disabled veterans. As the Veterans/ Generalist Counselor at Saddleback College, Kolin teaches the APSY 140, Boots-to-Books class and advises the Saddleback Veterans Club. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three little girls, fishing, golf, professional sports, and music.
