Medical Services

The Student Health Center offers quality medical health care and psychological therapy for all currently enrolled students who have paid their health fee. Services provided include treatment for acute, short term illnesses and  injuries, general health screening including women's health, and other health education and referrals as needed. Health issues addressed Medical Equipmentincludes but is not limited to treatment for conditions such as;

  • Respiratory infections
  • Urinary Tract infections
  • Sexually transmitted diseases including HIV
  • Sprains and strains
  • Immunizations and TB testing
  • Flu
  • Screening for blood pressure & weight
  • Vision and hearing screenings
  • Low cost laboratory testing
  • Low cost prescriptions
  • Cervical cancer screening (PAP Smears)
  • Birth control
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Physical examinations
  • Health education

A Registered Nurse is available to assist the student during all operational hours. Appointments with the Physician must be scheduled by the front office personnel or will be arranged after assessment by a Registered Nurse. As a courtesy to your fellow students, please cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

Every Healthcare Provider in the Student Health Center is licensed by the State of California in their professional field of practice.

Every student can expect their right to privacy will be protected. All discussions, examinations, and treatment of a student are confidential.

All communications and records relating to the student are confidential. The student's written permission must be obtained before information is released to anyone, including parents (see statement on minors below) and college officials. Exceptions required by law include reporting certain communicable diseases, threats of suicide or homicide, or suspected elder, child  or dependent abuse.

Our Consent for Treatment must be signed by the parent or legal guardian of any student less than 18 years of age before the student can receive services in the Student Health Center.

Three exceptions to this rule exist:

  1. Minors who have married, joined the armed services or have obtained a court emancipation order are entitled to medical care without parental consent.
  2. Minors seeking counseling for family planning or chemical dependence are allowed by California law to do so without parental consent.
  3. Parental consent is not required for minors who experience a medical emergency necessitating basic first aid or transport by paramedics to the nearest emergency room.

  • Low cost prescription antibiotics
  • "Over the Counter" medications
  • Health counseling and referrals
  • Tuberculosis testing
  • Immunizations: Measles/Mumps/Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis
  • Emergency first aid
