Faculty Concerns (not grade related)
When you feel that you have a valid concern or complaint about a faculty member, all efforts should be made to resolve this concern or complaint directly with the faculty member on an informal level.
However, if your concern or complaint cannot be resolved on the informal level, you may contact either the department chairperson or division dean for further assistance.
To access the Division Offices, please click here.
Unlawful Discrimination
Saddleback College is committed to providing a learning environment for students that is free of unlawful discrimination.
To better understand the definition of unlawful discrimination, please click here for the Harassment Policy and Complaint Procedure for Saddleback College and South Orange County Community College District.
Grade Concern
By law, the instructor is solely responsible for grades assigned; no instructor may be directed to change a grade except in certain circumstances authorized by the California Education Code, Section 76224 (a).
Process for an Informal Resolution (Test or Course Assignment)
If you believe that your grade on a test or course assignment is incorrect or unfair, you must meet with the instructor to informally resolve your grade concern. You may elect to contact the department chairperson or division dean for further assistance.
Process for a Formal Resolution (Specific to your Final Course Grade)
Every effort should be made to resolve your final course grade concern with your instructor. If such resolution cannot be met, you may contact the department chairperson or division dean for further assistance.
