Intermediate Level Classes
There are 2 levels of Intermediate Classes (Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2) plus Intermediate Electives.
Intermediate 1
ESL 330: Intermediate Multiskills I
A low-intermediate course in English for non-native speakers. Emphasis is on further development in listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. Recommended Preparation: ESL 321
ESL 335: Intermediate Writing I
Designed for the non-native speaker of English focusing on low intermediate-level writing skills. Emphasis is on gaining control of low-intermediate level sentence patterns, basic conventions of standard written English, and basic paragraph forms. Reading, vocabulary, and grammar activities support and supplement writing instruction. Required Prerequisite: ESL 321 or ESL 325 (or placement on ESL Assessment Test).
Intermediate 2
ESL 331: Intermediate Multiskills II
A high-intermediate English course for non-native speakers. Emphasis is on listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Recommended Preparation: ESL 330
ESL 336: Intermediate Writing II
Designed for the non-native speaker of English focusing on high-intermediate-level writing skills. Emphasis is on gaining control of high-intermediate-level sentence patterns, conventions of standard written English and paragraph forms. Intermediate Electives
ESL 332: Intermediate Conversation
The second in the ESL conversation series emphasis on both formal and informal expression and conversation in American English. Topics and vocabulary are expanded. Recommended Preparation: ESL 321 or 322
ESL 333: Intermediate Pronunciation
An intermediate-level pronunciation course designed for non-native speakers which enables students to recognize, distinguish, and produce the sounds and intonation patterns of American English. Students continue to develop confidence in speaking and comprehension through extensive practice, imitation, sound discrimination, dialogue, response, and reading. Recommended Preparation: ESL 323
