What is the web address access directly to my Blackboard?
  • The direct web address is http://socccd.blackboard.com. You must have a Saddleback Blackboard account to log in.

  • If you are a new faculty or new to Blackboard, fill out the Blackboard account request form.

    Why my course tickets are not show in my faculty work schedule in MySite?
  • If you are a new faculty and your are schedule to teach a course and the course is listed as Staff or TBD, you need to contact the department to change the status with Registra's office (or District IT).

    When do I see my enrolled students show up in Blackboard course roster after I've created my course shell through MySite?
  • Your enrolled students will appear in your Blackboard course roster within 24 - 48 hours.

    Why my students cannot see my course?
  • When the system created your course, the default setting is set to unavailable. You need to make your course available.

    Can I still access my course after I made it unavailable?
  • Yes, as instructor you can still have access to your course. Make course unavailable will prevent students from accessing your materials after semester end.

    Can I rearrange the order of my announcements?
  • No, you cannot change the order of your announcements. The latest announcement will always go to the top. You can mark you announcement as 'permanent' then it'll be the first one to show. You can always edit an older announcements.

    Can I attach more than one file in on assignment?
  • Yes, you can do that by click on the browse button again and locate your file and click open.

    My old course is still display, how do I make them not show on my Blackboard?
  • You need to click on a pencil on the top corner of your course session. Unchecked those old courses you do not wish you see again.

    Can I create Wiki's in Blackboard?
  • Currently we do not have licenses for Learning Objects. You can create your Wiki page from other sites such as pbwiki.com then add a link in your Blackobard course.

    Why do I get an error message when I import grades into Blackboard?
  • Blackboard does not take import from a modified Excel file. If you need to use Blackboard gradebook with your Excel spreadsheet, you have to download the gradebook from Blackboard first. The downloaded file will have all your students name, all you need to do is add more grade items and then upload the file.

    Some of my students dropped the class, how do I remove them from my course in Blackboard?
  • Go to Control Panel -> under 'User Management', select 'Remove Users From Course.' Enter your search accordingly. When you see the returned result, check the box next to the student's name, then type "Yes" in the empty text box, click on 'Submit'.

    My assignment is set to view on a specific date, why is it not show?
  • You need to check your assignment availability. Go to Control Panel -> locate your assignment -> Click on Modify, make sure the 'Yes' radio button in the 'Make Content Available' is marked.

    Why do I get an error message when I try to upload a document?
  • Check the name of the file you try to upload. Remove any special characters other than alphanumeric such as (~, @, #, % etc...) or even an extra comma or period.

  • Yes, you can make changes to the questions but you cannot change the points assigned and the correct questioned answer if there is already students took the test.

    How do I read Course Statistic?
  • According to the source from 'The Blackboard Instructor manual - p 329'. Overview, instructors can use the Course Statistics area to generate reaports on the course usage and activity. Instructors can view specific Student's usage to determine if Students are actively using the Course. The report apprears in th form of graphical charts. Please not that, when viewing reports that include hit or access statistics, a hit is tracked every time a request is sent to the Blackboard Learning System. For example, when trackign use of the Communication Area: a Student accesses the Communication area (1 hit), clicks Discussion Boards (2 hits), clicks a forum (3 hits), and clicks a message to read (4 hits).

    Why do I have to manually grade my students' quiz/test when it is set automatically?
  • Your quiz/test set up with timer. When students took more than time allows to complete your quiz/test, you will get an exclamation mark which you have to grade those manually.
