I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Allegheny College in Pa. and did my graduate work in Psychology at California State University Long Beach and Pepperdine University. I have been teaching Psychology and Women’s Studies at Saddleback College for  25 years.  I have been Chair of the Women’s Studies program for much of the last 20 years.

I am interested in the aspect of Psychology that deals with  how humans can live more positive, more productive, more satisfying lives.  This is a new area of research in Psychology, begun by Martin Seligman in 1998 and now known as “Positive Psychology”. Positive Psychology uses the scientific method in its efforts to assess, understand, and then build the human strengths. It aims to measure, understand, and foster the characteristics that make life more worth living.  It attempts to identify the biological, behavioral, and cognitive patterns that we are born with, and that we can cultivate, in order to feel more in control of our lives.

If you share these interests, please take a glance at my syllabus for the Introduction To Psychology and Women and Careers classes.   These courses are now online as well as on campus. I look forward to having you in one of my courses.
