Students cannot open PDF files.

Students using Safari and FireFox on a Mac OS cannot open PDF files – They usually see ERROR 503 message when faculty upload files using the BUILD CONTENT -> FILE method. Students WILL likely receive the above error message. Students might also receive a blank page or plug-in missing message.

1.  Instructor: AVOID USING THIS METHOD OF UPLOADING FILES, but if you want to take your chances . . . if you are using Build Content -> File, Choose Open in New Window when adding a PDF files.

Instructors should use the Build Content -> Item method to add .pdf files to the content area

2.  Students: If you are using MAC OS 10.4 or later, install the Schubert IT PDF plugin. The plugin can be found at http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/. If prompted, students should select for educational use.

For Students who using Windows OS, they may click the "SAVE" button and download the file to view.

Change the Windows Scroll Bar settings.

Windows XP:

• Go to Start Programs, Click on Control Panel.
• Select Display Properties -> Appearance tab -> Advance button.
• Select Scroll Bar from the drop down list, Change the setting to 19 -> Click Submit

Window Vista:

• Go to Start Programs, click on Control Panel.
• Select Personalization -> Window Color and Appearance option
• Click on Advance button
• Select Scroll Bar from the drop down list -> Change the setting to 19 -> Click Submit
