Students cannot open PDF files.
Students using Safari and FireFox on a Mac OS cannot open PDF files – They usually see ERROR 503 message when faculty upload files using the BUILD CONTENT -> FILE method. Students WILL likely receive the above error message. Students might also receive a blank page or plug-in missing message. |
1. Instructor: AVOID USING THIS METHOD OF UPLOADING FILES, but if you want to take your chances . . . if you are using Build Content -> File, Choose Open in New Window when adding a PDF files.
Instructors should use the Build Content -> Item method to add .pdf files to the content area
2. Students: If you are using MAC OS 10.4 or later, install the Schubert IT PDF plugin. The plugin can be found at http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/. If prompted, students should select for educational use.
For Students who using Windows OS, they may click the "SAVE" button and download the file to view.
