Important Dates and Deadlines

January 1, 2013: Online FAFSA application for 2013-2014 is ready for student/school use.

January/February 2013: 2013-2014 FAFSA and Cal Grant GPA Verification Forms are available on the web.

January 25, 2013 : Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office begins disbursing spring financial aid funds to awarded students.

February 4 , 2013: Stars Online Saddleback College Scholarship application will be available Check www.saddleback.edu/fao for instructions and application.

March 2, 2013: Cal Grant deadline for 2013 – 2014 award years. If you are a Saddleback College student and have completed the required units at Saddleback College, Saddleback College will electronically transmit your GPA. If you have multiple transcripts that have to be compiled, the Admissions & Records Office will complete this for you. Please contact the Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office for more information regarding the GPA Verification Form.

March 08, 2013: Saddleback College Scholarship Application Deadline 2013-2014

April 04, 2013: Spring semester Return to Title IV date for those students who withdraw from all their classes prior to the 60% completion. These students must see a Financial Aid Specialist prior to their withdrawal from all courses – they may have to return funds that have been disbursed

April 30, 2013: Recommended deadline for applicants to submit all documentation requirements to the Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office (to be considered for Spring 2013 and/or Summer 2013 Pell Grant).

May 3, 2013: Last day to submit a Loan Request Form to the Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office in order to receive loan funds for the 2012-2013 award year

May 16, 2013: Last day to submit a completed FAFSA application to receive funding for the 2012-2013 award year.

April/May 2013: Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office begins processing financial aid files for the 2013-2014 academic year

July 03, 2013: 2013-2014 Board of Governor’s Fee Waiver applications are available on the website for the upcoming academic year.

July 1, 2013: Priority awarding date given to applicants who have filed the FAFSA application by March 2 and have a complete financial aid file

August 21, 2013: Student Financial Assistance/Scholarship Office begins disbursing fall financial aid funds to awarded students.

September 2, 2013: Additional community college awards for Cal Grant deadline for 2013 – 2014 academic year. If you are a Saddleback College student and have completed the required units at Saddleback College, Saddleback College will electronically transmit your GPA. If you have multiple transcripts that have to be compiled, the Admissions & Records Office will complete this for you. GENERAL GUIDELINE FOR ALL TYPES OF AID:

Apply early, submit documentation as quickly as possible, and monitor your status via My Financial Aid and your email address

Crucial strategies in the financial aid process: Be prompt, be complete, be consistent, and stay in touch.

BOGFW (enrollment fee waiver): recommended that students apply for and receive approval prior to registering for classes.

The annual Saddleback College application for scholarships is generally available mid December and due March 2.
