All official transcripts of previous college work must be on file in the Office of Admissions and Records before applying for a degree or certificate.
Unit Requirement: A minimum of 60 units in courses numbered 1-299. Courses numbered 300-399 are not applicable to the Associate Degree.
Scholarship Requirement: A minimum GPA of 2.00 ("C") or better in graded units which the College accepts toward the degree and a minimum GPA of 2.00 ("C") or better in courses taken at Saddleback College and submitted as a part of the 60 units.
Major Requirement: Completion of at least 18 units (exclusive of any other units offered in satisfaction of the Associate Degree requirements) in one of the following patterns:
- The lower division pattern in a given major for any accredited four-year college or university.
- The occupational curricula described in the curricula section of the catalog.
- At least 39 units approved to meet the General Education requirement of the California State University System or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum requirements.
Residency Requirement: At least 12 units of courses taken at Saddleback College.
Transfer Credit: Lower division credit is accepted for transfer from colleges accredited by a recognized regional accrediting association, but not if it duplicates credit for courses taken at Saddleback College. For USAFI college-level courses, work is accepted if substantiated by end-of-course tests and recommended for college credit by USAFI and the American Council on Education. No more than 15 units may be granted.
Additional credit for military courses may be granted upon evaluation of course content and as recommended in the American Council on Education Guide. Evidence of completion must be submitted to the Admissions and Records Office.
Advanced Placement and CLEP scores are accepted for credit. Courses from some specialized institutions and courses from non-accredited institutions are not accepted. Any credit granted by Saddleback College is subject to reevaluation by any other college.
Transfer Grade Points: Regardless of the GPA earned from another college, students must earn a grade point average of 2.00 ("C") or better at Saddleback College for units applied toward the Associate Degree.
Graduation does not necessarily entitle the student to enter a higher institution of learning. Only those who complete the equivalent of a college lower-division curriculum with an average grade of "C" or better are admitted to the upper division of any college. Courses numbered from 1-199 are designated as baccalaureate degree courses and are accepted by the California State University system. The University of California will accept only those courses numbered 1-99.
Courses numbered 200-299 are intended for the Associate Degree and are not accepted by the California State University system or by the University of California, with the exception of all physical education courses.
Courses numbered 300-399 are designed to meet various student needs, not ordinarily part of a lower division program and are not acceptable for Associate Degree.
Complete information on Graduation Requirements are found in the College Catalog.
