Want to become a tutor?

We are looking for qualified individuals to serve as tutors in the Center.  To become a tutor, please follow these steps:

     1. Complete this form:  Tutor Application Form   (Note:  Attach a copy of your unofficial transcripts

           and current class schedule to this form.)

     2. Complete this form:  Tutor Work Schedule Request Form.

     3. Get a recommendation to work as a tutor from a Saddleback College faculty member in the area to be

         tutored.  Please use this form:  Faculty Recommendation of Tutor Applicant.

     4.  Submit your completed packet of forms to Patti Weekes in LRC 212.

All tutors must be verified as being qualified to tutor a specific subject by a Saddleback faculty member.
Ideally, students will have completed the courses that they wish to tutor at Saddleback College,
receiving an "A" or a "B".

Math and Science Learning Communities (Supplemental Instruction)

The Math/Science Learning Communities are designed to promote collaborative learning among faculty, peer tutors, and students in an effort to improve student success in at-risk Math (above Math 351 and 251) and Science courses.

Faculty members will identify, train, and mentor the tutor for his/her class(es). Each tutor will be expected to spend two hours each week in the classroom with the faculty member, work directly with the faculty member on his/her learning expecations and class outcomes, and spend from 4 to 8 hours on tutoring students in the LRC Tutoring (LRC 212) or a designated site under the supervision of an instructor.
