Alexis Petrovich
Alexis Petrovich is like many Saddleback College graduates: She earned her associate degree in psychology, graduated with honors, and transferred to UC Irvine.
What’s unique about Alexis’ undeniable success is the fact that she didn’t start out so confident. A 28-year-old single mom who had dropped out of high school, Alexis applied to Saddleback after her mom suggested that she take some classes. “I didn’t think someone like me could even go to college. I just didn’t know. But I thought, why not? Why not just look into it? The worst that could happen is that they say no.”

Rose Ramirez
After her family immigrated to the United States from Peru when she was just two years old, Rose Ramirez spent many years feeling like an outsider and searching for her identity. She struggled to balance her parents’ requests to find a quick route to a well-paying job with her desire to find a career that interested her. After a brief and unsatisfying career managing art galleries, Rose decided that she wanted to explore her options at Saddleback College with the goal of finding a topic for which she was truly passionate. Cheri Chagollan
As she stands in front of a tailored leather jacket and perfectly-shaped corsets, Cheri Chagollan says, "Ten years ago I couldn't sew a button!" After years of being a stay-at-home mom, Cheri decided that she would like to learn how to sew and enrolled in basic fashion courses at Saddleback College. Now, Cheri, an Orange County native, owns her own business – Wonderland Studios -- and creates clothes that have appeared in operas, international fashion shows, and on the covers of magazines. Michael Esfahani
For most of his life, Michael Esfahani didn't care too much for school. That all changed for him at Saddleback. "I never really saw eye to eye with my teachers in elementary, middle, or high school, and unfortunately I came into college with that attitude. However, I never learned more, or felt as much passion about learning, as I did from the professors at Saddleback." READ MORE |

Alex Lopez
Alex Lopez is a veteran, a Saddleback College alum, and will soon be a Berkeley Bear. Alex credits the faculty and staff at Saddleback for helping him get into Berkeley. He graduated Saddleback with an Associate of Arts degree in psychology and a 3.74 GPA, but it wasn't always easy for the Navy veteran, who overcame substance abuse and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder resulting from his time in the military.
